Mission

Community Christian Church is a progressive and inclusive congregation celebrating 125 years of service to Kansas City. Affiliated with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), we strive to live out our Disciples identity as a “movement for wholeness in a fragmented world.” Community’s diverse membership comes from all over the Metro and we welcome each person as a beloved child of God. We are a group of people searching for a faith that makes sense in the 21st century and we are committed to our core values of worshiping joyfully, celebrating the arts and doing justice.

Each week we worship joyfully in our historic Frank Lloyd Wright designed building, which has been our home since 1942. Architectural enthusiasts are welcome to participate in self-guided tours during regular office hours (M–F 9 am–4:30 pm) or guided tours are available by reservation.

We celebrate the arts in a variety of ways, including being the home to the Steeple of Light art gallery where there are rotating exhibits primarily featuring local artists and regularly hosting events featuring some of the finest musicians in the city.

Finally, we are a congregation with a rich history of doing justice. Our outreach to the city includes our food pantry that weekly serves our neighborhood, as well as many other justice ministries.
